Back It Up Pearl posted by on August 6, 2013

I’ve had my precious Prius Pearl since 2007 and all these years I’ve been obsessed with the back up camera. So much so that after wrapping my short film “Pearl” DP Jen May and I decided to drive down the Hollywood Hills in reverse and attempt to shoot the back up camera screen with her 5D. We covered the 5D with black cardboard and here is the result. The footage did not make it into the film (often what I find aesthetically pleasing is apparently NOT. As I am often reminded by my producer husband), but it’s fun to finally look at the footage and share it with anyone out there that has a similar obsession with their back up camera…anybody… I think it’s probably time to get a wide angle lens and start shooting with it instead of fantasizing about driving around in reverse while I shoot the screen in my car.

Meanwhile, the artist reception will be at LACDA (Los Angeles Center for Digital Arts) this Thursday night as part of LA’s Downtown Artwalk. Hope to see you there!

1965 Stairwell posted by on March 29, 2013

Often when I walk up or down stairs I find myself thinking about scenes from an Alfred Hithcock film or M.C. Escher’s “House of Stairs”. Tuesday as I walked up this particular set of stairs I decided to film the experience. Click to watch:

What taxes? posted by on March 2, 2013

The grandparents are in town so Jesse and I decided to go to his office to do our taxes. Let’s just say I’m hard at work. Hard at work analyzing how my sweater makes me look like a matronly librarian type while I spin around the room. Let’s just say I’m not the paperwork type and I’m avoiding my very intricate receipt filing system. Which consists of wading up all my paperwork into a tiny little box and then sorting each meaningless scrap the day before my taxes are due.

Creepy Patrick Bateman posted by on March 2, 2013

So my husband is producing the musical American Psycho and the other night he brought home a very lifelike and therefore very scary Patrick Bateman doll. I kinda freaked out and banished the figurine to his office. Click to watch.

My Muse has a Cold posted by on March 27, 2012

Between allergies and a characteristically weak immune system I have spent a good part of my life sick in bed. Although I find it to be miserable, apparently I also find it to be entertaining, as I have shot some of my favorite videos with a “sick” theme.

It all started with this photography film shot to Shel Silverstein’s poem “Sick”:

My next cold induced film was as Andie Mills for my YouTube channel “Life With Babs”:

And then this week again, instead of taking a sick day on my main channel SuperCaliListic I decided to make fun of my horrible cold and “unidentifiable face rash”:

Skyview Shoot…Again posted by on February 28, 2012

I originally shot a short film called “Skyview Motel” last spring. After spending some time editing, though, I decided to add to the story and shoot one more scene. In this week’s SuperCali video I take my viewers on set with actress Susanna Musotto and DP Samrod Shenassa:
